Smith Bespoke is a one-man bespoke tailoring house in Salt Lake City. This policy describes what we collect through smithbespoke.com, why we hold it, and who else ever sees it. It is written to describe what the site actually does, not to reserve rights we do not use.
What we collect
When you book a fitting
The booking form asks for your name, email address, phone number, and an optional note about what you would like made. We use these to hold your appointment, to put the appointment on our calendar, and to reach you about that appointment.
When you use the chat on our website
You may give a first name; it is optional. We keep the text of what you write and your IP address. The IP address is used only to limit how many messages a single visitor can send, so the chat cannot be used to flood our phone, and it is discarded within a few hours. The chat does not ask for your phone number and we do not text you.
When you are a client of the house
If we have made something for you, you have a private room on this site — the Atelier. It holds what a tailor keeps: your name and contact details, your measurements and pattern notes, the garments we have made you, your orders and where they stand, and the messages between us. If you have chosen to keep a card on file, the card itself is held by Square in their vault and never touches our server; we store only Square's reference to you.
The Atelier has no password. Signing in sends a one-time link to your email address that works once and expires in thirty minutes.
How we use it
To make and fit your clothes, to keep your appointments, to answer you, and to tell you when your garments move or arrive. That is the whole of it.
We do not sell your information. We do not rent, trade, or share it for anyone else's marketing, and we never will.
Mobile numbers
Mobile phone numbers collected on this site are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. No mobile information is sold to anyone, under any circumstance. Phone numbers are used to reach you about your own appointments and garments, and nothing else.
Text messages
The chat widget on this site sends what you write to the shop's own mobile phone as a text message, so a real person can answer you. You are not texted in return — the reply appears in the chat window in your browser. We do not add you to any text list, and we send no marketing texts.
If we ever text you directly, it is because you gave us your number for that purpose — to confirm a fitting or tell you a garment has arrived. Message frequency varies; these messages are conversational and occasional, sent only in response to something you asked for. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages, or HELP for help. Consent to receive messages is never a condition of any purchase.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of outside services to run the shop. Each sees only what it needs to do its job, and none of them are permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
- Google Calendar — your name, email, phone, and note, so your fitting appears on our calendar and you get an invitation.
- Twilio — the text of your website chat, to carry it to the shop's phone and carry the reply back.
- Resend — your email address, to deliver mail we send you, including Atelier sign-in links.
- Neon and Railway — the database and servers this site runs on.
- Square — payment details, when you pay or keep a card on file. Card numbers are held by Square, never by us.
- Cloudflare — swatch and garment imagery, and network service for the site.
- Anthropic — for two narrow tasks: drafting a single line of copy about why a cloth might suit you (which sees your first name and a summary of your closet), and reading an order sheet PDF into a form for us to check (which sees what is on that sheet, including measurements). This material is not used to train anyone's models.
We will also disclose information if the law requires it of us.
How long we keep it
Your pattern and the record of what we have made you are kept for as long as you are a client of the house — that is the point of a bespoke pattern, and clients return to it years later. Chat IP addresses are discarded within hours. Sign-in links expire in thirty minutes. If you would like your record deleted, write to us and we will delete it, keeping only what we are required to keep for tax and accounting.
Cookies
The site sets one cookie, and only after you sign in to the Atelier: a signed session cookie that keeps you signed in. There is no advertising tracking on this site, no analytics profile, and no third-party pixels.
Your choices
You may ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask us to stop contacting you. Write to greg@smithbespoke.com and a person will answer — there is only one of us, and it is not a queue.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes we will change the date at the top. Material changes to how we handle your information will be told to clients directly.
